How to Deal

Bleh. Don't bother. Annoying, not-fun and a waste of time.

Uneasily straddles the line between standard teen soap and something more ambitious – the better elements do make this worth watching (especially Janney, who brings life and colour to her “harridan mother” archetype), but they also heighten the disappointment when it folds back into cookie cutter (especially in Foch’s dope-smoking, zinger-prone grandmother). As always, Moore proves herself an underrated (and undervalued) leading lady, sparking a requisite chemistry with love interest Ford.

Summer movie. There wasn't much to watch in cinemas, so i ended up to watch this. Based on Dessen's two novels, moviemakers took the wrong path and couldn't deliver reasonable plot. Bad stuff from Kilner and Beber.

Recommended to me by my wife, this film is a combined adaptation of two novels, which in theory is pretty interesting, but the author often stays in the same theme for her stories, so while each book might have a diverse-enough or balanced story, what they did for the movie was borrow characters from one and transfer to this, and it's a little bit too on-the-nose, and the story/narrative itself suffers because of that.

A story with potential, but we're not getting that one - we're getting a more shallow and cliche-ridden movie instead, and the blandness of it all gets even worse thanks to a truly awful male-lead. The thing I remember most from this movie is that Mandy Moore has an ugly back.

Pretty bad, really. I'm not part of the target audience, but still...this just wasn't very good.

Better than you expect

Looking at the review for How to Deal, it talked about how Halley Martin found true love. The movie was nothing about true love. It was pretty lame even for a lover of chick flicks.

When the Flaming Lips song in this movie began to play, I almost wanted to kill Wayne Coyne in a murder/suicide pact.

it had its moments, but in the end it was a real stinker
