A mixed bag. This actually deserves a fair amount of praise for its broad scope of characters and time, and in addition is a genuinely likable female rom-com. On the other hand, it's dragged down by a massive number of cliches, and a pretty dire soundtrack that was probably just culled from whatever was on the Top 10 List when this movie was being made.

A truly awful film. There is no real direction or sense of what's going on, as the film jumps from one scene to the other. Alison Brie exists in another universe, never interacting with the three other women. Rebel Wilson, the only funny person in the film, fades away quickly. *puts on Roger Ebert's glasses* Perhaps this film should have been titled, "How NOT to Make a Movie".

To be fair, this wasn't meant for me and I sat through it as a sort of favor, but also to be fair, it's horrible. This is not a well-made rom-com for twenty-somethings, but an MTV-watching teen's idea of what they hope being a twenty-something will be like. The film's only surprises are entirely the result of its need to check off as many politically correct boxes as it reasonably can, so if nothing else, proponents of diversity-for-diversity's-sake now have that feather in their cap.

Its occasionally funny i guess. It doesn't dip into lower tiers bc it breaks from the cliche in a lot of ways. Except alot of these people don't behave like humans, at least not any humans i know.

In the City that Never Sleeps, where all the girls are models except one, who is but of course funny; where there is party and party every other night - nothing happens. For the full two hours - just nothing happens. People show up, have sex with one another and try not to talk much, as they are aware of the jokes they make. That's it. Nothing else. Mind me, you have to be single in this crowd and either carefully consider monastic way for the rest of the life or put your mental health at risk.

I'm not really sure what I expected here, but... Man oh man. I don't know what this movie was trying to tell me, honestly. Also, for a movie titled 'How to be single", I expected the main characters to be actually single for more than max. 15% of the time during the movie. Ah, well.

Was down to about a 30 with all the chick-flick music, sit-com, and scenes with Rebel Wilson in it. But worked its way back up a tad toward the end.

A bit of a letdown, simply because it feels unfocused and struggles to clearly get across its purpose until it has 20 minutes left - and does so with no concept of subtlety - How to Be Single is a funny movie with a strong cast, but doesn't quite succeed at being the anti-rom-com it sets out to be. It has enough laughs to make it worthwhile, but ultimately just feels like the first draft. It will hopefully be followed up by better films.

I [heart] Rebel Wilson's character (well, and Rebel Wilson)....I think I want to be her when I grow up. Almost all points of the score are for her, with a couple left over for Anders Holm and Jake Lacy's endearingly goofy character.

I agree with other reviews saying that it is unfocused. Cast is great, but the material is all over the place. The movie jumps around too much for the audience to really attach to any of the characters, which could work in a true comedy, but falls flat in a film with so many 'sincere', dramatic-leaning moments. It's an enjoyable enough watch, but could have been much better with a stronger script.

I thought it was going to be a step-by-step guide to being single but nope, it went down the typical storytelling mode road.

Taking the bad, uninspired and unfunny plot, dialogue, performances, pacing and overall execution aside, the film is a bad example of a product of the political globalist times. Driven by and encouraging some of the leftist social engineering goals of the last few decades, such as the anti-family, anti-society, and anti-cultural individualistic BS ideologies, the film is a bad example of cultural Marxist propaganda. Redeeming point was the single black dad's story - I shed a tear at the end.

This is a mostly predictable forgettable comedy. The cast does a good job in this movie. However the script lacks originality and there needed to be more funny moments. Overall this movie is disappointing.

It's not a great film by any stretch, but depending on your mood and what you feel like, it's watchable. The four leads play more or less to stereotype, which doesn't help proceedings but I think the mix of stories work quite well and there are some genuinely funny moments. Rebel Wilson has been thrown into a hole and probably won't play any other type of character.

How to Be Single is a good romance that takes a look at four different women and their approach to being single and being in a relationship. I enjoyed the movie's comedy more than it's more serious parts. I found myself rooting for certain choices more than others. Rebel Wilson is always a treat. Leslie Mann is great as well. Alison Brie was underutilized but I'm not really sure what else she would have added to the movie. The male parts in the movie were well chosen.

Frustrating comedy feels too often as if it's tonally fighting against itself; Wilson is the best thing in it, and is hilarious as the out-of-control party girl, but her shenanigans don't really mesh with some of the quieter, more truthful moments (Mann's relationship arc). Could have been much better if it had settled on tone, and didn't feel so much like a BRIDGET JONES knock-off, especially in Johnson and Brie's hangdog escapades. Passably enjoyable.

For a comedy all about How to Be Single (2016) it sure spends a lot of time looking for relationships.... some good laughs though for a standard lazy comedy.

Will someone please get busy and put Rebel Wilson in a movie worthy of her cheeky talents? How to Be Single is so not it. It's chickbait for Valentine's weekend filmgoing when dudes will presumably get their rocks off with Deadpool. Ladies, I sympathize. And though Wilson is always reason enough to see a movie, she's stuck here in a fluffball that plays like warmed-over subplots from Sex and the City.

How to Be Single is a decent comedy despite suffering from an aimless plot and a contrived, ham-fisted ending. At times it seems that Johnson and Wilson competing for most annoying character, but the cast is rather likeable and the characters are well-conceived, if a bit eccentric. The entire film is a little reminiscent of He's Just Not That Into You, just not as good.

You might be asking, why is a single 30 year old watching this? Alison Brie, that's why. But in all seriousness, not enough of her. But Johnson does a good job. It's not really a good movie, as it falls into familiar trappings of the genre and doesn't bring much to the table besides a fun cast. There were a couple funny moments but not enough, and the message was muddled and unfocused. But still not a dreadful flick.

I guess I'll give this film what little credit it deserves, too: By credit's roll, there are a few sensible words offered up about using your singleness to gain insight into the person you are and who you may want to become. But, frankly, by the time those thoughtful lines show up, they're attached to the rest of this tiresome tale by the wispiest of gossamer dramatic threads ... exactly like the misleading title that doesn't quite fit. Rebel Wilson is a star. Way too much going on here and a lot of dots left unconnected. Like usual the lead character is by far the least interesting. Still luv Leslie Mann even tho I'm in the minority by a large margin on that one.

some funny moments (mostly from Wilson), but all over the place. Time jumps with no one acknowledging it until it leads to a conflict (you haven't hung out with me for months! I didnt know it had even been that long). Way too many characters that just went nowhere. Disappointing, I was really looking forward to this one.
