İlginçti ama yeni değildi. Biraz Aftersun, biraz Greenland. Küçük 1 çocuk büyümekte gün be gün.

This movie has a lot of good pieces, with little moments that really work. The cast is super strong, and I was willing to go with it stylistically. Cailee Spaeny is fantastic as young Liza and that old/young dynamic worked surprisingly well. Unfortunately the overarching plot structure did not work. A lot of the conversations and character dynamics had almost no context, which in turn kind of blunts their impact. Overall its not as funny as I expected, but its still mostly amusing and enjoyable.

How It Ends has a that indie feel of cutesy meets quirky, but its sub-90 minute runtime seems to be filled with more musical tangents than comedic characters. The theme of finding inner-peace by making peace with your metaphysical self actually works really well thanks to strong performances from Lister-Jones and Spaeny. The "last day" backdrop is fine but unimportant. The "eclectic" characters are a mixed bag. The LA setting is detrimental, reducing sympathy for the characters. Underwhelming.

It's not GREAT but there are great moments certainly. The metaphysical younger self talking to current self sounds cheesy but actually works and is the grounds for which all the emotional impact is built. Labeled as a comedy, I think it's where it fails and is what keeps it from a higher score. It's really not that funny. A few good jokes here and there, and underutilization of Whitney Cummings, but it's also never offensively unfunny, so it just putters along, always being enjoyable.
