The exaggerated swagger of a house party full of black teens

House Party does a lot of things right and it might be one of the best black comedies of the 90's. I like that the movie is for all ages. Kid and Play don't party hard. They are just a couple of good kids who want to have some fun with their friends. This movie wouldn't work post millennium but there was something a lot more innocent about the 90's and this movie fits perfectly. The movie really shines when it talks about the relationship between Black folk and the police. A must watch.

Really want to see Kid with a receding hairline try and keep that hairstyle.

This is a fun film that does not have a lot of plot. The story is ultra simple but it works. Both the leads have good charisma and the rest of the cast has some charming moments as well. Overall I would recommend this film.

This movie should be terrible, but somehow these two goofballs are charismatic enough to pull it off. Completely dated, but everyonce in awhile when flipping through channels I linger.

Classic little piece of pop culture candy. Kid 'n' Play were never really that big until this movie....then they spawned like four sequels off of it. This is the original Friday and it's a shame it doesn't get more credit.

The guiltiest of guilty pleasures. Reid's performance is simple but very charismatic, Campbell is cute as a button, Lawrence is actually funny, but it's Robin Harris who steals the show. The homophobic prison scene, however, is rather embarassing.
