Didn't laugh once but the 'what the future is like' concepts are kind of interesting enough to keep you watching albeit kind of bored.

Oh, self-aware humor. Are you, yourself, aware that your humor is not humorous? The actors sure seemed convinced that they are entertaining...someone.

Ohh that was disappointing. One of those sequels that never should've happened.

Is it entertaining? Mostly. The movie isn't quality the entire time but it keeps the laughs going which is what you want from a comedy. It keeps a better pace than the first film and is really more interested in the adventure and just stumbles accidentally into fixing the issues the characters have in the film.

Considering the first one was a surprisingly heartfelt and fun movie it's a real shame what they did with this. It started out very well, but slowly degrades essentially from the moment they use the time travel again. There are some humorous bits but not enough to hold ones interest.

At least there's a 'Caddyshack' reference (with the line delivered by the man himself, Chevy Chase).

there was zero reason for this to be made. And you know if John "Straight to Streaming" Cusack drops out, run.

Extremely crude and sexist party/drugs/sex schtick dominates this film, and it's way too over the line to ever be funny (only Adam Jr.'s wedding planning ever gets laughs) and despite the ongoing "Lou's an asshole" thread and a couple of very surprising bits of serious character work (see Lou's humble self-awareness on the roof, AA idea at the end) it's not justified from a dramatic point of view either-especially considering how they null it all in the end anyways for a mediocre comedy bit.

Most time-travel movies stop making sense after awhile, but the premise of this one is nonsense, even when they explain it by drawing it out on a whiteboard. Instead of focusing on that, though, the focus of this film is on Corddry and how absolutely horrible he is to his friends who are trying to save his life. It's offputting, and none of the other character balance out his awfulness. Duke is a straight-man while Scott is oddly absent. Also has the most pointless intoxication montages ever.

Painfully unfunny. There's no heart, you don't want to root for any of these guys (even in an anti-hero sort of way), and they run any of the decent jokes into the ground.
The first film was fun. This was an absolute piece of shit.

Its amazing how much worse this one is than the original. Its structured like the stream of consciousness of a 4th grader.

The first Hot Tub Time Machine movie was gunk-in-the-drain-pipe putrid. This sequel doesn't even try to ooze past the clog. Its unimaginative and totally pointless script leaps from one filthy non sequitur to the next with the crazed abandon of a sleep-deprived improv artist. Not even a bucketful of chlorine could clean up this flick, and not even penicillin could cure the sickness it spawns. (pluggedin.com)

Unlike The Hangover, Hot Tub Time Machine wasn't a huge hit, so a sequel seemed completely superfluous, especially five years after the original was released and quickly forgotten. It reunites Pink, Corddry, Robinson and Duke and replaces Cusack with Scott, which was a big mistake because, like Coddry, he is only really good at playing assholes (e.g. Step Brothers) and cannot provide the crucial anchor in the role of the straight man to reign in the chaos when necessary. It also isn't funny.

I liked this more than the first one. It was way more crazy and wasn't trying to take itself so seriously. Or perhaps the headcold I had was messing more with my brain that day.

It will surprise no one that this sequel that no one asked for is worse than the original. Not a whole lot worse, but still worse. It's basically the same jokes recycled from the first one, and it makes for a pretty boring watch. I'm glad they replaced John Cusack with Adam Scott though, as he comes out the funniest in this. It's not a funny movie, though. I suppose it's pretty harmless, but uninspired and dull, nonetheless.

Absurd nonsense, which was something I was in the mood for. Didn't experience the first Hot Tub, so I'm jumping into this one without any knowledge what was going to happen. But I presumed it had sometimes to do with a Hot Tub Time Machine and something going into #2. And I was right on both account....

A cruel, cynical and nihilistic comedy in the tradition of the latter two Hangovers, the kind of movie that critics will never understand; certainly flawed, but wildly entertaining and laugh-out-loud funny.

The future with bubble jets included. The sequel to the very funny Hot Tub Time Machine is here and even though this one wasn't as funny as the first, I had quite a few laughs along the way. I liked that they are following the lead of Back to the Future and going to the future this time. Some notably funny scenes were the Choozy Doozy scene and Adam Scott being operated on after a drug overdose. The movie starts off slow but really ramps up toward the end...

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 lacks Cusack, and his absence left its mark. The film suffers from sequel syndrome, trying to imitate its predecessor, but without substantial character development it falls short. There are still plenty of laughs, and Corddry does a decent job stepping up as the lead but overall it's just not enough.

No one in their right mind would expect this to be good, but it's actually pretty funny in a whole 'lowest common denominator' sort of way.
Also, who are these people who thought the first one was all that good?

I'm a staunch defender of the first Hot Tub Time Machine, but this unnecessary sequel leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Certainly funny at times, but some scenes drag on for too long, and others trade genuine wit for moral bankruptcy and expect sheer insanity to do the comedic legwork. Shame, but if you liked the first there's at least some value in here.

Everybody looks like they're having a lot of fun, but there are no likable characters in sight, including the good guys, and the movie pours on the smirky vulgarity instead of attempting slapstick or humor based on character or any of that sorta shit. It's a loud, dumb, crude comedy, and that might be good enough for some folks. I could've done without it, though (see HORRIBLE BOSSES 2).

The first twenty minutes were pretty bad, almost turned it off but then it got decent. Some of the jokes aren't that great, but there was some really funny scenes and overall I guess it was a fun movie to watch if you're a fan of the first and are looking for something mildly entertaining. It's one of those films you'd watch on Netflix when you're at a friends.

No going back when a rape joke is the best joke. Chevy Chase is trying to eat away his self loathing and is now a double Chevy.

It tried to have the heart of the first one, but it wasn't genuine. When it's just joke after joke it works. I laughed I had fun. When they try and be sentimental, it falls flat and last forever.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is like that person who, well, stays in the hot tub too long. He should have left while the going was good, and maybe only gone back after he'd freshened up. This wasn't a long enough break. It's unpleasant, no longer funny, repetitive, and not worth seeing. John Cusack clearly passed on the script, and that was a smart thing for him to do, since Hot Tub Time Machine 2 is going to be remembered only as one of those sequels that isn't anywhere near as good as the original.
