Especially when it comes to his more free and experimental short films, it strikes me that Terayama is a creator of strong photographic imagery but he's less effective in constructing cinematic scenes and sequences (unless he's working in a more theatrical vein with a written text, as in his longer, better developed films). These come across like pieces you'd see in an art gallery, watch for a few minutes and move on.

I have found that experimental cinema without a point is pointless for me to watch since I rarely get anything out of them.
