The main problem with Holiday in Mexico (1946) is that it tries too hard to bee a showcase for its musical attractions. It drags the whole thing down, at the same time as the plot grew thinner and thinner. Not that Ilona Massey singing, or Xavier Cugat's little Chihuahua number wasn't appreciated. It was just too many interludes. What was fun was the corny teen romance between Roddy McDowall & Jane Powell. Has its charms, even if most of the production values went into the musical diversions.
