I've never been so conflicted on a movie in my life. The movie starts off with multiple scenes of animal abuse and young, bored teens acting like little shits. Most of the rest of the movie is alternating scenes of awkward, confused social anxiety or full bore in-home family misery. I could barely watch it at times. Despite all that, this was good/great in almost every way. So it's somehow a great movie that I never want to talk about, think about, hear about, or watch ever again.

Özellikle Thor'un hikayesinden giden film, kırsal hayatta yaşayan gençlerin aile ve kültür çatışmalarını izliyoruz. Çocuk oyuncuların cesur performanslar harika. Gerçekçi olduğu kadar, abartıdan kaçılmış. Sinematografi muhteşem. Fakat çok uzun ve ağır. Filmin sonunda, helal ettim hakkımı. Gören olursa sadece arkadaşız.

A movie about friendship, loyalty, and internal struggles. Even if the plot of this movie isn't for you, you'll at least have been able to view 2 hours of the beautiful rural Icelandic landscape.

We seriously have enough tragic gay movies already. This one is notable for the perspective from the oblivious best friend, and how the events affect him. The leads' performances make us remember the powerful emotions of adolescense. The photography reveals a stark beauty of Iceland well-suited as the canvas for this story. However, in 2016, self-hate, homophobia, suicide, and other tragedy should not dominate the bulk of gay coming of age movies.
