His Three Daughters

Took me a moment (but only a moment, really) to acclimate to the tenor of the performances; they’re all just slightly more theatrical and affected than you’d expect. Once I settled in, I was completely absorbed. This is a beautiful meditation on family and loss, as well as the limitations of words to express anything meaningful. Coon, Olsen, and Lyonne are all excellent, but so is Jay O. Sanders’ one-scene performance in a sequence that shouldn’t work but instead left me weeping.
