American melodramatic war movie. An American marries the widow of one of his French army friends, who never got back from the front. They live their lives together and take care of the child, who was born soon after the Frenchman was called for duty. Years after, the Frenchman returns from his release from a German Prisoners-of-War camp and is confronted with the dramatic changes in his matrimonial situation.

Hobart Bosworth is a really exceptional actor and takes over the screen controlling the emotions with ease. We start out as the two drifters meet and together reestablish their lives until the other is sent out to war for the French. A drama with a slightly problematic dilemma as a old man has married the wife of his good friend they all thought died at war. It's not really that dramatic, but a fine feel-good story with touch of sadness.
