High Lonesome

This is much better than I was expecting. The acting isn't the greatest and not everything makes sense but it's still one of the more unusual Westerns I've seen.

Having made his screen debut in a smaller role in The Sundowners (1959), John Barrymore Jr., aka John Drew Barrymore, gets his first lead role in High Lonesome (1950), in what can be almost be classified as a indie western. While not a polished actor so early in his career, he shows fire in what was not an ordinary western by 1950 standards. There are issues that prevent it from becoming a great one, but honestly it was a lot better than expected, and it's got that unique feel for a western.
