Enjoyable diversion, which works as a glossy throwback to 40s-50s melodrama (even down to a lush soundtrack). Quite restrained and even tame for Almodovar, but manages to pack in an unusual musical number, and a devilishly clever character twist in the final act. Marks time a little too much in the middle, but soars to a moving finale, thanks to terrific performances from Abril and Paredes.

The prison yard dance routine in this predates Lady Gaga's "Telephone" by a good 20 years (ha!)

Anne-kız arasındaki o travmatik ilişki hiç geçmedi bana. Almodovar'ın bazı filmleri "ruhsuz". Tüm dramatik öğelerine ve Almodovar kırmızısına rağmen. Bu da onlardan biri.

Takes so many turns it hardly knows where it's going by the end but like the rest of Almodovar's movies it's undeniably fun. Bold colors, highly-animated women, B-movie male actors, and LOTS OF DRAMA. MUCHO DRAMA. The reference to Autumn Sonata was fitting, because the mother-daughter relationship is similar, although the tone in this movie is much more cartoonish and fabulously gay, obviously.

Strangely sags in the beginning and end, but the middle is really fun and interesting. I thought everything from the murder to Rebeca being released from prison was fantastic and I was really looking forward to delving into what seemed like pretty fascinating characters; the dance sequence especially had me very excited for the rest of the movie to be about life in this women's prison. And then all that disappears when it reverts back to the boring family melodrama of the first act. Such a shame

Typical Almodovar story. Lots of layers and super hero kind of secret identities. I always was wondering why they called the story as High Heels since there was not that many of them in the story. Just mothers. The latter part of the story did not work that well. Javier Bardem's got a small part (no spoken lines).

A very enjoyable, intricate tale that keeps turning things in a new direction whenever it starts to get stale. It's got a lot of the usual Almodovar stamps: high melodrama mixed with black comedy, insane coincidences, twisted relationships and of course dazzling use of color. The movie doesn't have the magic of Almodovar's best works, perhaps because the performances as a whole aren't that impressive. However, it's got some really good laughs and an engaging series of twists and reversals.

In my opinion one of the weaker Almodovar's. The plot get's lost in the second half of this Movie. Better watch life flesh, kika, habla con ella volver or talk to her.

Almodovar's love for all those colorful, girly celebrity-talk 60s magazines is shown in every frame of this quite entertaining film. Too bad the scrip gets poor in the second half.

Pretty good. It's well-shot and well-acted, though the script could probably use some work. But it's pretty much a soap opera, and it's really only on the technical level that it truly sets itself apart from other soap operas. And All About My Mother is better in pretty much every way. Decent stuff, though.
