High Gear

One of those half embarrassing family movies that ends up just too positive and where most of the acting is poor. It's about a successful race car driver who kills his partner in a accident and get in a trauma. James Murray was great in The Crowd (1928), but he never reached that levels again and couldn't deal with it killing himself in 1936. Here he is in a rare lead role in a all-sound movie as his career was going down. He's okay I guess, but the whole set-up around him doesn't really work.
