After seeing the ending, lots of earlier parts in the movie don't make much sense. For example, the family's rule that they can never talk about the "breathers" trying to find them. A great deal of this movie hinges on the big reveals at the end being satisfying, so they took some cheap routes to build a convincing facade of mystique in the beginning. A movie like this, that keeps you waiting for a twist/reveal, is like a 90-minute game of peekaboo.

I can't remember the name of that film that did the same thing this does, but nevermind. It's a concept I like, and I like the actors, too. Still, it's quite a leap for the Duffers to go from this STV-type material to making 'Stranger Things'.

I love films of people trapped, the plot twist is nice.

Tedious horror thriller starts with a nice feel for the grungy, claustrophobic atmosphere of the family living quarters, but spends far too long labouring its set up - for the first two acts, nothing really happens, before the fairly predictable third act twist; while it leads to an intriguing denouement, the twist does skirt close to being a flaccid cheat. Almost worthwhile for the fine work by Skarsgård, Riseborough and Lind who are equally good, creating a family you want to root for.

I started to get bored and skip through this. You barely need to watch the first 60 minutes to appreciate the ending, which was an unexpected twist.

Pre Stranger Things Duffer Brothers, and it’s pretty solid. Pacing is never too slow, clever twists, and distinguishes itself from other post apocalyptic films.

the filmmaking is similar to their later hit show in terms of "in case you're stupid, here's an unnecessary explanation", and that's what gave away, as well as ruined, everything way beforehand. too bad, the idea was still novel enough, the acting above average and the production adequate. maybe the fluffer-brothers should stick to getting things up and running and then let someone else do the actual dance.

The movie starts slow, but the ending seals the deal.

Great acting by the 3 main characters. Emily Alyn Lind did great.

Pretty cool twist at the end. But the girl and woman were annoying.

I liked the buildup, I liked the atmosphere, I liked the first half of the ending, but the second half of the ending had me asking why they didn't end the movie 5-10 minutes earlier. Worth watching if you're into that kinda stuff.

The twist is good enough to give the stagy dialogue (throughout the majority of the film) a pass. Wouldn't have minded if the Duffy's took a leaf out of The Road's book & really tapped into the cheerless misery set there vs the pulpy optimism we get here. I got a Das Boot feeling from the scene's underground regarding the sound design for anything outside of the bunker, so compliments to the sound design team there.

Lacks depth, good atmosphere, solid twist. Reveals just as much as it has to, shame IMO.

Hidden is ninety percent family suspense/drama and ten percent thriller/horror. Surprisingly engrossing for such a short film (a little over 80 minutes) but worthwhile if you like the outbreak apocalypse genre. Thumbs up for the ending too.

I liked the ending but the way to go there took too dull boring road.

Refreshingly good! Start out like most post apocalyptic films but the last part is what makes the movie solid. Loved the ending. Very original. Dark and depressive feel to the movie.

just fast forward it if you are watching for the 'great ending' bullshit.
ten minutes and nothing more. take shelter wannabe until the ending, but doesn't get anywhere near. total disappointment. also not clever at all, no good ideas, no twists. one of the stupidest thrillers that i've seen.

I liked the Hidden (2015) reveal, but the producers should consider themselves lucky every time it keeps a viewer watching past the first 25 minutes. Real killer dead time that'll turn even the most hardcore horror fan off.

Interesting little film. I discovered this by total accident (usually works out well, since there are no expectations) It takes the outbreak/zombie premise and does something unique with it. I'll be looking out for these Bro' directors future efforts.
