Republic re-edits their The Lone Ranger (1938) serial for a 1940 feature length release. How they cut down around 4 1/2 hours to just one is have a old man tell the story to a kid while cutting to the action. Alright narrative device for a plot which would have been too intricate to follow otherwise. Hi-Yo Silver (1940) is for those that want to get the original The Lone Ranger over and done with in no time.
