She's All That is one of my guilty pleasures. So I wanted to take a look at the Netflix remake. Let me describe it this way: it was painful. I watched half an hour and couldn't watch the rest.

It's doesn't hold a candle to the original but it's not terrible. My biggest gripe is that the plot steamrolled through the movie. An added 10-15 minutes would have done a lot. Or if the 30 minute dance-off scene had been cut out and substituted with some more screen time between the leads. Now the romance happened way too fast without any believable bonding scenes between the teens.

Significantly less believable than the movie it remade. I'm as straight as you get, but if I went to HS with Tanner Buchanan, I'd be going straight to him. Homeboy's a dreamboat on every level. And he knows karate, er, Miyagi-Do karate.

Matthew Lillard was good, and overall it's just barely watchable. Funniest part is a tie between the guy riding in on his freakin horse at the end, and Kourtney Kardashian's "acting".

Worth noting that this is a sex-reversed remake of SHE'S ALL THAT (1999), which was in turn an adaptation of MY FAIR LADY (1964) and George Bernard Shaw's play PYGMALION (premiered 1913). Some interesting questions can potentially be raised and discussed through that chain of connection between those works made at very different times, including the impact of social media on the interactive character of real life social-sexual situations (parties, proms, etc).

A trashy rom com reinvented for the kids of today. Total waste of time. Ultimate cringe. The ending is truly painful levels of cringe.

Hardly the worst of the zoomer-era teen romcoms. If it weren't a remake it wouldn't stand out from any number of random Disney channel movies.

Read some truly horrible reviews and this was very bad. But what do you expect with a tik tok actor and recreating of an already bad romcom?

Was expecting a sort of early 00's romcom shitty but entertaining movie. Unfortunately it's, not surprising, a 2020's shitty teenage bullshitmovie that's focussed on shitty as social media. I was sad and shocked at how bad it was. Where was the Onlyfans part? At LEAST add that if you want to be accurate.

This movie was complete trash! Rachael Leigh Cook & Matthew Lillard were the highlights for whatever that's worth, but truthfully I just feel bad for them.

Had my first certified old man moment being like “Who the fuck is Addison Rae? A TIKTOK STAR? What the fuck is a TIKTOK STAR?!!” It all feels so PG and Disney channel it’s kinda jarring when they drop the f-bomb just like the original. Lol that’s one of the Kardashians right as Addison’s social media sponsor person? That was some rough acting bro. Prom crowning was pretty halfhearted. How this generic chunk of teen tofu share a director with Mean Girls?

I was obsessed with Rachael Leigh Cook when I was a teen and I think she's the highlight here, even though screen time is limited, because she's kinda funny. Rae is decent, Tanner is the best of the bunch. This aspect of modern culture is so cringey to me that it's hard for me to invest, but even so, it lacks some of the charm of the first, which was by no means amazing itself. A couple jokes, some cute moments, I imagine this would work for the intended audience, not an old man like me.
