Here Is Always Somewhere Else

Documentary about the disappearance of the dutch californian artist Bas Jan Ader. For his last performance Ader tried to cross the Atlantic in an extremely small boat. Ader disappeared in the mist and neither his body nor his boat were ever found. This doc is not a standard biography, but gives an highly original account of Ader's life and disappearance. Furthermore it stresses Ader's importance for contemporary arts. Doing so it features works by and interviews with influential video artists.
