When going through Luke Wilson's career you learn to appreciate the even minor successes. This is a bland, mediocre, but somewhat charming film, which is definitely above average for Luke.

Let's be clear, the funniest thing about this movie is that anyone bothered to fund it. There's no human interest, no drama, no character development, there is nothing that any person grounded in reality could find interesting. Although if you're a religious nut prone to self indulgent romps of mediocre fantasy . . .

Self absorbed religious nuttery. That I actually finished it is the true miracle; but in doing so, lost my faith in movies promoted to me as Indie-ish.

Predictable tripe. Also contradicts itself by saying that the stain was just a stain after all, with no god like powers, but somehow, it still cured a girl's eyesight.

Decent story, until it ended. Then it kind of became a POS.

Somewhat sad story of faith versus the rational man. Radha Mitchell was a good thing about this movie but all she had to do was show up and smile. The little girl is absolutely precious, cute as a pixie, very sweet. Luke Wilson was a beaten down man convinced he will die, but the face of Jesus on his wall saved him, yeah right.

The performances are good in this movie but I found the ending unsatisfying. The script moves things along slowly at times. I can not quite recommend this one.

I loved it for the handful of truly magical and beautiful moments in the film (though, much of it was pretty mediocre). Can see many people hating it, though.

Something charming about it, but not completely there. Luke Wilson can make any movie watchable for me though.

I was enjoying myself and really thought this was funny until they went to far making the Jesus stain real. I was all about the religious nuts vs. skeptics storyline idea they just didn't do it right. Luke WIlson's character needed to be a bigger bastard to the religious nuts, instead he just yelled at them, made them cry and then relented to their wishes. The ending could have saved the movie but was a disaster. Probably only giving this a passing score because I like Luke Wilson.

I loved the cast especially Luke and Radha Mitchell. I found the plot rather believable even as a true story.

While I appreciate the overall arc of the story from non-belief to belief, the film is just too talky and sentimental to really leave a deep and lasting impression. There were numerous scenes that either could have been cut or severely curtailed, a character whose main purpose was to show the writer knew about Russian history and Noam Chomsky, and neighbors that simply went beyond believability. Maybe if they had taken everything a few steps into fantasyland it would have helped.

I like Luke Wilson so I can more or less tolerate him in anything. For some reason he doesn't quite come across as vehement enough in this film. His character's skepticism doesn't quite seem real enough. Up until the fucking retarded ending I was more or less enjoying the trip. (u were never sick bro and you get to fuck this qt pie! go you! go god!) The central conflict of one skeptical man vs. a bunch of believers is a compelling one, for me.

Matters of faith are treated with sincerity, but much more with schmaltz. And Wilson is a natural barrier to sincerity, higher and wider even than his monotonously scoffing character.

A number of meaty ideas, handled in a silly and klutzy way. Luke Wilson is absolutely positively NOT who you would have wanted as the star
