Welcome to dysfunctional Philippines. The film tells the story of their General Luna who bravely fought the Americans when they invaded the country, but more it tells the story of the filipino people and their weaknesses. Not just 100 years ago, but also how it relates to todays attitudes, never fighting for national pride and the corrupt nature of their culture. This is film making on a grand, yet economical style, and they pull it off well.
