The first 30 mins are as good as anything in the 1st film, doing a wonderfully economical job of showing, rather than telling us, the protagonist's brazen personality & the kinds of danger she's willing to put herself in. Then we get a squirmingly effective scene involving a corpse that looks like it may pounce any minute & an unexpected box opening we've not seen before. But that's all the story they have & it's an hour of pointless & tiresome delaying until the very anti-climatic showdown.

I want more of this midnight meat train. More like Hellraiser: Dumber. I wish they’d dump Hellraiser bullshit on better unrelated scripts. Gimme Hellraiser elements suddenly in like Corrina, Corrina. Three more...

Great title, don't you think? Well, it starts out okay, but slowly degenerates into tosh, with a reporter that won't stop bleeding. For a 1½ hour movie, that's a lot of bleeding...

The story isn't anything special. There are a few good scenes with some decent contrast of colours but for the most part this movie makes little to no sense, isn't scary, and doesn't have any really impressive acting. It's just a lot of Kari Wuhrer screaming. Oh and what a terrible title. Hellraiser: Deader? Laughably bad title.

Deader improves on Inferno and Hellseeker by featuring a sympathetic protagonist in Wuhrer, who does a decent job, but the film is actually dumber than the previous DTV sequels because of random plotting and poor character development. The Romanian locations were likely chosen for financial reasons rather than aesthetic ones (re: they were cheap), and the film doesn't come alive until the gory finale, which has some decent Pinhead action that arrives too late to make a difference.

I think the new direction the series took with part five was probably a good idea, but I wish they would decide what Pinhead is, and what his motivation is. I can excuse the "slasher" Pinhead in part 3 because at least they explained it with a plot point, but in every movie Pinhead is different: level-headed Leviathan lackey, slasher, harvester of souls, punisher of sin. What good is a character who can be anything the current story demands of him?

The last time I saw a woman bleed this much without dying was when [insert childish remark about your sister].

Boring at best.. Boring story (no twists), boring cast, probably worst movie title ever. The main character bleeds for 1/2 the movie. Marc Warren has great 'final words'.

I found very monotonously, boring and disgustingly, it is good for whom it likes much blood.

The 7th installment is arguably a gooder film than the last two but a badder Hellraiser film, and I watched this because it’s part of the Hellraiser franchise, not because the premise appealed.

The jokes about the title and the state of the series write themselves, though this is mostly just another bland entry.

A week after seeing this movie I only have vague memories of the plot and my extreme feelings of discontent while watching it.

These movies have been getting worse and worse (as expected). They've been beating a dead horse for a really long time and it's been a while since I've seen any kind of originality brought back into the series. The bit about investigating a story revolving around the reanimation of the dead in general...is cool, but that would have worked in a script without the cenobites. But once Pinhead showed up, it got that much more confusing, that much quicker

This is only tangentially a Hellraiser movie and the supernatural phenomenon that replaces the cenobites is not at all compelling. I appreciate the authentic Romanian locations, so I have to give it credit for that. And the scene where the protagonist first comes across the box is somewhat effective. Nothing else left an impression.

In a franchise you didn't think could get worse, they release a film subtitled Deader. Oh, it's as bad as it sounds. It's a Hellraiser movie in name, and probably would have been more bearable if it wasn't. Nothing in this movie that is shown actually matters to what the movie wanted to do, and the stuff that is important is presented way too contentedly. I'm interested, how the hell did you get this far in this franchise?

It's SLIGHTLY more coherent than the previous movie... At least for a little while. But all the supernatural elements very quickly become vague and murky. And in the end, I'm not even sure what the outcome of the story was.

Rewatch. The sequence where Kari Wuhrer has to pull a knife out of herself actually approaches creepiness. That alone is more of a revelation than Hellraiser Revelations. Still falls apart because the Hellraiser series continues to rely on cheap shocks than any attempts at building atmosphere.

The "Hellraiser" series is one of the few that took more than one movie to dive into the dark abyss of mediocrity populated by horror movie sequels. This is the seventh installment, and you can see the quality failing, but it's still not that bad. If you continue with the series, prepare yourself for one hell of a steep drop off in quality.

Aaah the good ol' Kari Wuhrer. Nice to see her doing..something. I bet Rick bota was just on holiday with some people of his film crew in romania and was like hey, its real cheap here, lets shoot a movie here! Got a script off the internet and went to work. And well, its not as great as the last two, but works on some levels. Worth a watch,

Not straying far from the beaten path of the last couple of Hellraisers, with 'hell' being interpreted as the insides of your own head (very intellectual I'm sure). Pinhead makes his requisite appearance, and there is the standard pretense of a plot, but we all know where this one is headed from the start.
