I liked it. It's the best Hellraiser film after the first one, for sure (which isn't saying much given the franchise is overall quite awful, but still). The cenobites looked absolutely amazing, and there are quite a few good scenes involving them. The script is expectedly weak, and the movie is quite generic as a whole, but it manages to work. I guess I was expecting something bad (coming off of every other film that is) so it was able to surprise me a bit.

Not quite as unique and groundbreaking as the original, this reboot has a more standard horror structure but makes up for it with plenty of cenobite screentime and strong characters. Not scary but beautiful.

I've been looking forward to this since it was announced and had just rewatched the original recently. I'm the target demographic and really enjoyed this. Was it perfect? No? Would I penalize it more if it wasn't such a beloved franchise? Yes. The Cenobites and Pinhead scenes were marvelous. Costume design A+. I was never scared, but more in love w the whole aesthetic and some of the CGI choices were superb. It's probably a 6/10 movie, but one that I gladly give a 7.5. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Surprisingly well done especially for this franchise. Great character designs too. The script definitely needed another couple rewrites, and a bit shorter run time would have been nice too.

I knew Barker originally wanted his main villain to be female, so I never thought this sex change was a result of toxic DEI mandates, but after watching this, WTH was the point of changing Pinhead's sex? So that females can also "see themselves" as a sadistic monster? I have no idea. In any case the 1st hour moves too slowly despite above average performers & characterization, but the 2nd hour saves the film, delivering Cenobites (whose insides should look wetter), twists & wince-inducing sadism

There is some good atmosphere here and the cenobites certainly look good. But, like most of the sequels, this gets lost in the lore. The final act seems to go on forever and much of it I couldn't really see. This still ranks fairly high in the series, but the bar is so low.

It's not awful, but it's a slightly weaker derivative of the original. The Cenobites still spout the same empty dialogue."We have such delights to show you". Sure you do

Deeply tiresome and uninteresting for how derivative it is. Main gal is set up to have addiction problems, but despite the film spending the time on this characterisation, it goes nowhere. Her Mystery Van shenanigans with friends contain nothing of interest in story or filmmaking. The story with our villain is what this film should've focused on, as it actually relates to pain and pleasure of the body, and the final scene featuring his grueling body horror moment is easily the film's highlight.

Yessssss, I LOVE Hellraiser, welcome back dear old friend. Not a bad adaptation at all. A lot of blood and Cenubites and a pretty OK story

Yeah the box as a weapon is silly, and the lead & the other survivor are annoying. But at the very least it's the best Hellraiser movie in 30+ years, and the new Priest/Pinhead is a worthy successor. As someone who prefers Hellbound to the original, I liked the added lore, the production design (dimensional doors opening looked incredible) and the sacrificial dynamic. It also has 3 of the best scenes in the whole franchise - the van capture + torture, Leviathan descending & the Cenobite "birth".

The lore building was amazing, and the rest of it super generic. A must see for Hellraiser fans and not many others.

It's not great but it did at least try. It's definitely among the better Hellraiser films but it's not really doing anything special either. If you think you might enjoy a new Hellraiser film it's worth a watch. If you think it's probably going to be crap, you might be positively surprised but I'd still not waste your time on this.

A damn good reimagining of the horror classic. I really found myself feeling drawn in and mesmerized by the stylism and art design, while also being as effectively creeped and grossed out as I was for these Cenobites as I was for the original. The CGI takes away from a lot of the scares, the pacing is rushed and most of the characters are flat or annoying, but there is a genuine heart to this story and a rather unexpected ending that I really found effective.

While it's admirable that the new "Hellraiser" seeks to differentiate itself from the original film by adapting the source material, rather than being a direct remake, it ultimately falls short of its potential. With lackluster visuals and frustratingly incompetent characters, it's a disappointingly shallow adaptation of Clive Barker's brilliant novella. However, the iconic performances from Jamie Clayton and the Cenobites do make it somewhat worthwhile.

It definitely has its moments, specially when it doesn't try to explain too much -- film seems too focused on mythology and ends being schematically structured -- and invests in creepy, diabolical atmosphere -- Cenobites look cool. Wanted more of that. And gorier, kinkier stuff, too.

Life, knowledge, love, sensation, power, resurrection. Despite my lack of expectations and the shortcomings of the story, I loved the new Hellraiser as much as the original. Especially, I did not expect to be affected so much visually, I was enchanted by the atmosphere created. Lady Pinhead was perfect too. I WANT MORE.

The first part is a bit too much like standard slasher fare, but I really thought it stuck the landing. I loved the ending. Jamie Clayton was wonderful. And what this film excelled at was the whole 'beauty in ruination' thing. Really, highly aesthetic flailing, and the cenobite design was beautifully monstrous.

For someone with no prior connections to the franchise, this was very cool. It really didn’t win me over with the story direction, but it’s serviceable to what is some of the best horror affects and production design I’ve seen in a horror movie in a long time. Lady Pinhead is phenomenal, and the Cenobites are used quite well too. Overall, the atmosphere and flair is astounding, as Bruckner really deserves a lot of credit for this. It’s easily one of the best horror movies this year.

The Hellraiser franchise is a pop culture blind spot of mine, but I found this on Hulu and figured, what the hell, I'm sure it's fine that I missed the last eight or nine. I imagine this one is more professionally made than most of the others (got that "soft arthouse horror" feel of the latest Halloweens, etc.), but ultimately it's just two hours of people getting pranked by a little bronze toy box. Devolves into basically a haunted house flick, which is amongst my least preferred subgenres.

Keeps little of the actual plot of the original story, but arguably more of the Desire idea of it than any previous movie... at least initially. The second half drags more than a bit and occasionally turns the cenobites into standard (if well-designed) monsters who just want to kill people. But Clayton is a brilliant version of Pinhead and while it's less demented trash than the original, it's still a strong version.

Parts of this definitely drag on a bit towards the middle but this was a pretty solid reimagining of Hellraiser. Focuses a lot on lore which I liked a lot. There was some good tension and creepy moments that made this a lot of fun.

Admittedly a good performance from Odessa A'Zion, and I was surprised to find out after the film was over that Pinhead was played by a woman (Jamie Clayton). But this is a pretty dull and forgettable film, lacking the menace, creepy awe, genuine fear, and sheer creativity of the 1987 original.

I avoided Hellraiser and it's many sequels for years because, from all accounts, it sounded far too sadistic and bloody for my tastes. On a whim, I decided to check out this reboot or whatever the hell it is. ...I mean, it wasn't really as horrible as I'd been led to believe, but... I didn't really care for it. Some really weak character drama with just a tiny bit of gore fills the first 65% of the film. There's more gore at the end, but... meh. I don't think I'll bother with the rest.

I absolutely hated every single character in this movie with Riley being the worst. Definitely one of the better Hellraiser films but let's face it, at this point that is a pretty low bar. I would be up to seeing more from Hellraiser films but please replace Odessa A'zion, Jamie Clayton was fine as the Hell Priest, better than the previous two. I also liked the demonic passageways and how they were handled but I really disliked that the people who were cut by the box became drugged.

Bruckner keeps the atmosphere spooky and the nightmare visit to a creepy mansion that takes up much of the film’s last half has some neat twists. But it also turns into a cast-winnowing string of deaths that only underscore the thinness of the characters and the perfunctory nature of the whole enterprise. Beyond pleasure and pain lies a gray, formless dimension in which IP is kept alive by the blood of new entries. This Hellraiser only occasionally escapes it.
