One of those old school San Francisco pictures they used to love making in old Hollywood. One where it's more about the dazzle than the content. Looks like a treat! The story is a bore.... most of the time. Has it's little moments, though, and Alice Faye sings a few nice songs. And probable has one of the least fitting roles of Laird Cregar brief career.

Engaging period musical. Overlong and overstuffed, but the plot doesn't interfere unduly with the succession of evergreen songs.

Moderately pleasing period musical with plenty going on but nothing very striking.
