Interestingly for a film about someone seeking solace in another person's identity, it feels like a UK film pretending to be a Berliner Schule film (one can even imagine, say, Julia Hummer in the lead role). That said, it succeeds well for what it is even if it's hard to say that it has much of an individual style. The deadpan Bressonian acting feels a bit stilted initially, but the film ultimately finds a rhythm that works. Thematically, it has a lot in common with Lanthimos or early Egoyan.
