Heart and Souls

Walk like a mannnn, talk like a mannn...

Heartwarming crowdpleaser, whose good feelings and intentions help overcome a first half which takes a little long setting up the premise, leaving little time to develop the interesting, existential ideas in the second half; a lack of focus on Downey and Shue’s relationship mutes the emotional power of the finale. Minor gripes though; the film lives on the terrific interplay between the perfectly matched spirits (even if Grodin gets lost in the shuffle) and some fun shape shifting from Downey.

I had this on VHS as a kid and watched it a hundred times. I recorded it from the TV so I had to fast forward through commercials. It's probably awful but I'm not going to let that touch my fond memories.

Some cute moments, but you have to cut through a mile high pie of new age crap to get there.

Wow, this is a really nice movie and - yes, it tugged at my heartstrings.

So much fun. It's a shame we lost basically ten years of RDJ to his drug problem, because he's really fantastic in this.

Actually thought this movie really worked. Had a simple plot premise that was followed through satisfyingly enough, and movie was... not necessarily funny, but it was sad, and cute. Not a great movie, but a solid movie. Works a lot better than some recent films with a similar premise.

A little cheap, but okay, and the beginning had some incredible acting from the boy who acted the junior of Robert Downey jr.

A sweet movie, and one I enjoy watching often. Though the moral of the story is fairly basic.
