"Havana" is a visually attractive film that leans heavily on an overaged Redford.

Awkward, uneven paraphrase of CASABLANCA is good, glittery, pleasingly old-fashioned fun for the first half, and gets much of its enjoyment from a typically laconic performance from Redford (even if he is at least 10 years too old for the part), but seriously bogs down in an over-extended, self serious second half, which telegraphs most of its predictable plot points well in advance. Silky cinematography is another plus, and Julia adds some sparks in support.

Casablanca remake is crazy, but I liked this.

A money's-worth movie of broad scope, big cars, buttery talk, proud postures, and dubious purpose. The assumption appears to be that everyone will have missed Richard Lester's _Cuba_ or else that anyone who did catch it didn't like it well enough to remember it. As embarrassingly similar as these two movies are, the aloofly ironic approach of Lester would seem to meet the reality of the case better than this swooningly romantic one.

An alright film, but feels a bit unreal, lifeless at times, especially for its length.

Sydney and Robbie do "Casablanca in Cuba". Not bad, but kinda slow, and Redford looks old enough to be Lena Olin's father
