It's been a really long time since I saw the second Hatchet movie, but I remember it sucking. This one isn't a work of art by any means, but it scratched an itch for self-aware mindless gorefests for me--an ever persistent itch, or maybe it's a rash, I really should get that looked at.

Third time's the charm for this slasher franchise for me, as this is easily my favorite film in the series so far. This movie probably does the best job of balancing all the different elements of horror, comedy, and action with all the bloody gore and creative kills. Plus, it doesn't hurt that this is probably the best story yet, not to mention characters, where I especially loved the use of Zach Galligan, Caroline Williams, and Sid Haig. A satisfying conclusion to this solid slasher series.

A bit better than the average third part in a horror series if you're looking for mean and gorey takedowns.

Quick and bloody. A bit of a step down from the first two, Hatchet III suffers from Too Much Victor Crowley.

This one really dragged, especially after I thought the 2nd was really well done.

If you like full on blood, guts & gore then this movie is for you. Poor Danielle Harris is covered in blood just minutes in. The film starts off fast and then has some peaks and valleys in the plot. Mainly valleys though. I just couldn't get into the film. The bad guy was pretty generic and almost faceless and the characters were just begging to be killed. There is some funny dialogue and cool deaths, Harris is hot but it wasn't enough to make this a horror classic.

This may be the best entry into the franchise. Solid performances, a fun cameo by Sid Haig, a story that's much more ambitious than the second film & much more entertaining to follow, & the trademark over-the-top gore effects the first two movies became known for all combine to make for an enjoyable ride. While it's definitely flawed & suffers from a bit too much self-referential comedy & callbacks, it hits more often than it misses, is surprisingly smart & closes out the original trilogy well.

As someone who dislikes most slasher films, this has most of what I want from the genre. In addition to improving the cinematography & acknowledging the unbelievable contrivance of the 2nd film, it carries over a heroine we care about & adds a new proactive lead whose reasons for getting involved & accomplishing as much as she does makes sense. This applies to most of the characters who behave far more plausibly than the usual teens. It also drops most of the so-so humor but keeps the fun gore

more of an extremely gory action film than a horror film. watchable at least.

Endlessly stupid and repetitious, but funny in places and gory enough to satisfy my inhuman bloodlust.

I guess this one is the weakest, but not by a whole lot. Harris is still a terrible actress. They tried to give development to the characters, but it felt contrived, & those scenes tended to be fairly boring. My favourite scene by far was the one featuring Sid Haig. There was some fun, gory stuff, but nothing much new. I didn't hate it, and at only 80 minutes, it can't really be called a waste of time. There's just nothing in it that the two previous films in the series haven't already covered.

Unfortunately this ended up being pretty boring because once Crowley is on the scene you know everyone's going to die which just makes things all blend together in a generic, over long and overly goofy slaughter fest.

I think this was the worst of the three but all 3 were still very good horror movies. Once again Danielle Harris was great.

This is pretty bad. Enough blood to float a whale and enough swearing to shame a sailor. If you like bad movies then give it a try. Otherwise, don't bother.

I never thought I'd get irritated with endless blood and gore, but there you go. The deaths are really beautiful, even if they are pretty senseless and all run together.

Better than the first one.
