Harmony Trail

Harmony Trail (1944) signifies the end of Ken Maynard's over 20 years as a cowboy star, which started in the silent era and struggled along poverty row for the sound era. He would make two appearances over a quarter of a century later, but as far as career went, this was the end. Best thing was Maynard showing off his rope skills. The rest was stiff as most of his sound career had been.

Very unsatisfying. The comedy in the movie is just painful to watch. The plot what little there is of it is basically the most over used of all poverty row plots, the thieves pose as high ranking members of a town and the heroes ride in and expose them all while cracking jokes and the main lead woos the one pretty girl in town. In fact this movie feels less like a western than most due to the use of vehicles and focus on singing and vaudeville acts...
