Hard to Handle

I'd never have beleived that I'd use the fast forward button on a Cagney film...that is till I watched this. JC is cast as a fast talking flim-flam man and doesn't come across much at all. The love interest doesn't convice and her shyster mum is more shrill than entertaining. Sadly, no.

Hard to Handle is another wild comedy involving James Cagney with hilarious support of Ruth Donnelly as his gold digging future mother-in-law. His potential babe is the pretty Mary Brian, but even with her beauty she was put in the shadow of her screen mother. Donnelly was even more scheming then Cagney! This film is funny, but it's not Cagney at his sharpest. He uses most of his energy on running, instead of running his mouth with knockout lines.... except "That's love".
