A rather prestigious attempt from Swedish director Gustaf Molander, a German co-production getting recognized international actress Lil Dagover to star in his troubled marriage among the higher classes. Good drama. The old ladies certainly helped set the tone as the Swedish man tries to put his upper-class British wife in her place. Didn't need to be as long as it was, but there were some fine touches by the experienced director pacing it out better than the material deserved.
