Hanover Street

Tepid WW2 film with disconnected plotlines: a married London nurse and her family, an American bomber pilot, their brief romance, and his escapades across Nazi France with a spy. It is filmed competently but all the overseas action scenes are nonsensical, Ford never seems more than mildly interested, and the romance isn't developed at all. If you want to see Harrison punch a Nazi in the face, watch Indiana Jones; if you want antique romance watch Brief Encounter or A Matter of Life or Death.

Ironically, the parts between Margaret and Ford's character are almost the weakest parts of the movie.

It's a wartime romance with a little bit of war thrown in. The actual combat scenes are decent, but a little bit too PG for today's standards. The romance is unconvincing and uninteresting. I'm sure if it were presented as a book with Fabio on the cover, it would give Danielle Steele a run for her money, but that's just not my speed.
