I appreciate the rawness of Friedrich's anger in response to the destruction of her neighbourhood, but it does severely compromise her broader message about the mutually constitutive relationship between gentrification and proletarianisation (in the Stieglerian sense). 'In Jackson Heights' by Fred Wiseman and 'West of the Tracks' by Wang Bing' are films which much more successfully depict in a cinematic way the 'evils' of urban development.
