Blind from birth, Gurrumul found purpose and meaning through songs and music inspired by his community and country. Living a traditional Yolngu life, his breakthrough album 'Gurrumul' brought him to a crossroads as audiences and artists around the world began to embrace his music. GURRUMUL is a portrait of an artist on the brink of global reverence, and the struggles he and those closest to him faced in balancing that which mattered most to him and keeping the show on the road.

Quite a standard musician documentary. It's a nicely watchable documentary that covers the most important musical developments he had in his career, later in life, and they are respectfully displayed for the right amount of time here. There are also some memorable and tense moments of his more unusual behaviour. What's disappointing is it's undeniably hagiographic and never delves into any of the darkness of his life, which would explain his artfulness.
