Guinea Pig: Mermaid in the Manhole

A date movie, if you hate getting laid.

It was genius to make the woman a mermaid in this entry. There's something about that which makes all the pus, boils and worms infinitely more repellent. Some very effective moments.

Guinea Pig 4 is 50% longer than the previous movie, lacks its humour and mostly features "gross" gore (pustules, worms) rather than wounds and dismemberment. Disappointing.

Like Star Trek in that the even numbered films are half-decent, and the series ends on this trend. Great, disgusting effects.

The element of suffering is back from Devil's Experiment, the mutilation from Flower of Flesh and Blood, even a reluctance to die almost akin to He Never Dies is here. But this installment of the Guinea Pig series is mainly about gross-out. Basically, if you want to see no-nonsense graphic horror that focuses entirely on the horrifically icky and nightmarishly nauseating, this is for you. As with the other Guinea Pig movies, the gore effects are very, very effective.
