Grounds for Marriage

One of those cutesy romance comedies MGM was known for. They had a lot of ideas and scenarios to get the most out of their stars, but in a way it became too much. Which I guess would explain a little why it was such a box office bomb. Both Van Johnson & Kathryn Grayson give it their all, and Barry Sullivan & Paula Raymond fill their parts as support well. It was just that the gags wasn't perfectly fine-tuned to fit the personalities involved, even if it was enjoyable a lot of the time.

Tough billed as a musical, it's a romantic comedy with some music, since she's an opera singer. Pretty entertaining and I think my introduction to the talented Van Johnson.
