It is almost impossible to quantify what it is that makes this movie great because it has nothing to recommend it. Why I watch it every couple of years is beyond me.

Not bad little adaptation of one of King's first and best short stories. Gritty and grim, it benefits from tough acting and a brooding atmosphere, though the ending disappoints a bit.

The first half of this features the most sympathetic characters I've seen so far in any of these 80s/90s adaptations of King horror shorts. The production design always looks so filthy and the boss so awful (yet not cartoony), that you get a palpable sense of the worst of blue collar work (for women too). Unfortunately the last third only offers an Alien-style hunt & kill & raises 2 unanswered questions: why are there THAT many skeletons and why does the boss attack potential helpers?

Stephen King truly is the Thomas Kinkade of writers.

Most of the characters in this movie are either annoying or boring. The big creature is a big letdown. The script is weak and does not move the story along quickly enough. Overall this film is a bigdisappointment.

Stephen Macht drowns in his forced Stephen King Maine accent, ayuh. End credit song is out of this world.

It's so bad until all of a sudden it gets SO GOOD for like 15 minutes.

Brad Dourif is underused, but the film is still fairly effective, though not much like the short story.

The worst Stephen King adaptation I've ever seen. It's a pretty lousy horror in general.

Mostly just really boring, with a couple of unintentionally hilarious scenes that don't really make up for the lost time.

Low budget, poorly adapted from a King short story.

Usual Stephen King made for tv ( was it though?) schlock. Looks like it just came out of the eighties. Low budget eighties that is.

After doing demented dogs, rampaging werewolves, and killer cats not once but five times, Stephen again puts the "King" in "animal kingdom". Sort of a lower-budgeted _Ratnophobia_, this shapes up as a numbingly routine horror outing, certainly nothing to rat home about.

Dreary, badly made horror movie that fails on every level.

A fair expansion on the King short story. There's not much else to say. There's some OK performances, and the special effects are there. Hooray for modern filmmaking.

These guys clearly want to do a real horror movie. They're just so BAD at it
