Grace

"In all great art, there is gratitude." Grace walks in the footsteps of great Russian tradition such as Tarkovsky, Konchalovsky, and Sokurov, using landscape, time, and people to meditate on the growing up of a nomadic, motherless teenager. Although the film wants her search and growth to turn into something bigger, at times that aspect did not really happen for me. The images come close to something transcendental, just to disappoint. It could have been less calculated and more aleatory.
