Gorky Park

Gorky Park is an intriguing story with a lot of twists (maybe too many), but it will keep you interested. I don't really get all of the British accents though when the characters are Russian.

Oh lord. The soundtrack about sums up this movie. Horrendous.

William Hurt came up with a Slavic accent for this, and they made him take it away!!! Bad director, Naughty director

Great story, decent acting (with William Hurt the exception providing brilliant acting) but the movie is severly dated by it's horrendously 80's soundtrack. Such a shame.

Propaganda gone boring

Mostly just a stupid piece of western propaganda with no real understanding of the culture it’s enveloped in. If you’re going to make trash at least make it interesting. Lee Marvin is totally miscast

If one can stomach the Western propaganda, the shoehorned romantic tropes, an awkward soundtrack, and Hurt's English accent - which all sounds like a lot to tolerate, I know - this is a fairly decent and watchable conspiracy thriller.

I enjoyed how the sets and interactions made me feel like I was in Moscow, but hated the English accents or bad accents that destroyed that illusion. In a couple of scenes, it's so bad it became a distraction, however despite this flaw, its still a very watchable movie.

Decently paced and acted Cold War thriller that, unfortunately, is fairly forgettable. Its melodramatic overtones don't help it but I always enjoy watching Hurt when given a meaty role.

Clunky scripting and poor sound production mar an otherwise entertaining cold war police procedural. Could have used a bit of explanation regarding the extent Americans could wander around Moscow back in the day. And was there even one shot of St Basil's Cathedral?

A decent thriller, though a bit dry and over-dramatic at the times. William Hurt is a fine dramatic actor (gotta love how Hurt always looks hurt), but his performance in this film along with a bad fake accent he does makes the lines line "'You're a whore, Irina." unintentionally funny.

Haven't read the book, but the film was dark and atmospheric.

Not a bad 'whydunnit' although I found a suspension of belief was needed now and again.And,yes,they really did all speak in English in Soviet Russia in those days.Very lame sex scene with the poor plinky plonk soundtrack going away in the background

Apparently to overcome the language/accent barrier, the actors were directed to just to talk normally, add a "comrade" or two and people will believe you're Russian. English/American/Cockney whatever accents aside, I'm still a little confused as to how this all comes back to six sables stuck in cages in the Siberian woods. Possibly the most unthrilling thriller ever filmed.

Boring thriller.

I would have liked it better if the female character had better depth and stuck with the whole idea of being "ruthless". It just didn't get anywhere near brilliant, even if Dennis Potter did do the screenplay for this atrocity.
