While not a complete victory, Good Kill is a decent movie that will make you think about the way that the military uses drones, and the way that killing people impacts the mental health of soldiers. Its strengths do not come from its story or its characters. It's topical, it's smart, and it's rarely dull, although it's also heavy-handed and often single-minded.

As vile and misogynist a piece of militarist propaganda as I've seen. Big ups to those who booed it at Venice.

A pretty engaging film on the effects of war, and what it means to be in the middle of the action whilst being miles away, and having to blindly follow instructions. The story arcs are explored fairly well, and Ethan Hawke is convincing. Whilst it's never going to be on anyone's must watch-list, it's certainly worth a look.

Will gamers be the drone pilots of tomorrow? Will death lose its sting? Niccol conjectures all over the place. He's doing too much, pushing too hard. Condemn the guy or clone him? You be the judge.

Could have been a really interesting film tackling a bizarre and increasingly vital part of geopolitics/the military, but it's so simplistic it's not worth watching. Sleepwalking performances by Hawke & Jones while Kravitz's character is unbelievably naive and comes off as the writer lecturing the unseen CIA authority.

The script is a bit hammy at times, but Ethan Hawke brings intensity to every scene. Lovely production design. Good film.

A film in which Ethan Hawke struggles to choose between right and wrong, as well as between his irritating wife and a much younger, hotter brod he could easily bang. Both predicaments are carefully explored albeit only one is wholly satisfying.

Best to watch this in the context of being a partner film to Top Gun (the references are throughout) the certainty replaced by moral ambiguity, etc. etc. not a bad attempt.
