Goluboy ekspress

Expanding on the montage techniques pioneered by his countrymen Eisenstein (Battleship Potemkin) and Vertov (Man with a Movie Camera), Ilya Trauberg created a tighly-packed 1-hour narrative film which is in equal parts rousing and moving. Even if the print shows its age, the production has many rough edges and the politics are anything but subtle or nuanced, it's impossible to miss the huge influence this film had on blockbusters made as many as 85 years later. An almost perfect action film.
