A film desperately in need of subtitles (which my show DID NOT have), Golda nonetheless intrigues with an underexplored story profiling an underappreciated figure in world history. Helen Mirren, as nearly always, is believable and evocative, tortured by the weight of the war, while Liev Schreiber's composed portrayal of Henry Kissinger, I felt stole every scene he was in. This is well-directed and -performed, but again, is held back by its total lack of subtitles, and some revisionist history.

Cheap attemp at telling a story that ought to be interesting.

A well-acted Helen Mirren drama which takes us back to the 1970s. Political drama, which usually means it's going to be a dull one, and it is for the most part, regardless of the heavy feel of the thing.

As expected, the acting is the highlight here. Hellen Mirren is great, and Liev Schreiber holds his own quite well. The score is also pretty unique for this type of film, which I appreciated. That said, it drags and is not very effective. Not as a biography, a political thriller, or even a historical drama. It often times feels like it’d be more engaging and educational to just read her Wikipedia. It also doesn’t fully dive in to the controversy surrounding her.

Mirren is pretty good, as is the makeup, but it's really really hard to symphatize with Israel, be it current or historical events. Especially as the coverage is so one sided.

Really a centerpiece for a typically committed and commanding performance from Mirren, under a transformative makeup job, but it’s hard to dismiss the notion that both the performance and makeup are showy to a point that they strip the groove into artificiality, especially when we learn precious little about Golda herself; it leaves the film with a dry, undernourished feel that makes you wish for a good documentary instead. Highlighted by an underused Schreiber as a bemused Kissinger.

Zionist piece of shit propaganda film. Not just evidently evil in so many ways -- one-eyed Mossad guy lol, lack of any controversy regarding the title character, who hated Palestinians so bad --, but actually embarrassing -- every attempt to convey horrors of war through Golda's eyes feels so pathetic.
