The 15 minutes actually featuring Godzilla were entertaining, but it mainly feels like Baby's First Environmental Awareness Movie that wastes half an hour of your life with a shameful no-budget Indiana Jones ripoff. "We've ruined the planet," scientist-man says angrily, shortly before their high-tech energy draining HQ receives a message that requires the huge hydraulics under the desk to rotate it towards the screen, when simply walking up to it would've sufficed. ..That's how you get Battras!

Think this is a movie about a dinosaur fighting a butterfly? Please. This is Japan. You get TWO moths, the saddest Indiana Jones homage since Allan Quatermain and some Asian pop duo, singing. Ah, singing. I wish I had seen this before 'The Phantom Menace'. It would've prepared me for the fact that 'stupid' and 'confusing' are not two mutually exclusive concepts in a plot. Anyhow, brass tacks: The top box office movie in Japan that year. That's how to say 'Clean your fucking planet' in Japanese.

There's a very subtle message at the heart of this movie. Hint: it's about the environment. It's for it.

The first act is a pretty terrible parody of Indiana Jones, but otherwise this is a highly unusual and entertaining Godzilla film with an anti-corporate message.

Mothra seems to have made the strangest transition to the Heisei period. The twins, the larva, and the song have all carried over, but the melodramatic presentation feels alternately awkward and hilarious. I still really enjoyed the kaiju action, although the obvious Indiana Jones ripoff of a human story just seems embarrassing now.

Blatant Indiana Jones ripoff scenes aside, I liked this movie a lot. A fun time waster.

If Twisters won't talk about climate change, let's discuss a movie that will (and perhaps beat you over the head with it). This kicks off with a bizarre Indiana Jones sequence to encounter Larvaea, the not-yet Mothra. Oh, the monsters aren't really the bad guys; the CEO is! Lots of destruction and some hilarious moments, like Mothra's tail fetish. It's pretty much an average Godzilla film, with the Mothra All-Girls Choir keeping it from a lower rating.

Starts out with a terrible but hilarious story parody of Indiana Jones, before it goes full ancient tiny alien people sci-fi bullshit. We even have the obligatory psychic girl. It’s refreshing how the film criticises corporations and the capitalist industrial system for destroying the environment. The music selection is bold, and it was beautiful watching Mothra spray jizz everywhere before being reborn.

It can feel a little rushed and cheesy at times. And the film pales a little compared to the previous entry. Again, the battle scenes and monster designs are incredibly fun.

Kaiju divert their destruction away from Namco buildings. Kaiju like Tekken, who knew?

This one centers around the battle between Godzilla, Mothra, and Battra more than other Godzilla films, which is a bit of a good change of pace.

This movie has everything you could want to get out of a kaiju film. Godzilla Mothra and Battra are fucking amazing! I know on the whole it's a bad movie, but, I can't in good conscience give it a bad score. It's too enjoyable!

has a great pace up until 2 of its 3 monsters disappear temporarily. there are some good monster battles in there, though. some of the mothra scenes aim for majestic and wind up overlong.
