Never pretends its not a film essay and it gets many profound and clearly made points across about the prison system and how further institutionalising can lead to dramatic and violent events. Brutal film that absolutely does not hold back, tough prison issues such as drug use, self-mutilation, suicide, boredom, homosexuality, rape, television, materialism, and surveillance are all closely examined.

Artfully framed but with the brutally hard edge of something like Scum, and maybe a dash of Bronson. It's a schlocky movie with the overarching ambition of a boldly dramatised sociological report on the failings of the prison system. Continue to think along the lines of The Wire, if it were made by a bunch of yobbos in the outback.

Just an excuse to say some bad words.

Strange and disturbing. I'm not really sure what that's supposed to add up to though. It doesn't have any of the usual positive aspects of horror films, and it wasn't even very thought-provoking, so there's not much of a reason to sit through such an ugly film.

Actually this is pretty good (Not that any such thing as a bad Vince Gill film). Though Dave Mason steals the show as the Prison Bitch...

Brutal, disturbing, powerful. That alone, however, does not make a good film, I'm afraid. Still memorable, nevertheless.
