A group of drag-racing fanatics, members of a Los Angeles club, move into an old deserted mansion and set up shop, making it their headquarters. They hold a Halloween masked ball for the club's grand opening, and invite everyone to come dressed as their favorite monster! Oddly enough, the festivities turn sour when one of the bright youths discovers an impostor among them in the form of an honest-to-gosh live monster who's been hogging all the dances with the best-looking girls! The titular ghost plays second fiddle to a kids vs parents theme that hits about as hard as a gingerly thrown pillow. These adults just don't understand these wacky youths. The rock band playing in what might as well be the Happy Days diner uses a loaded firearm as an instrument which to the adults credit is unbelievably reckless. This all takes the long route to a ghost mystery that even leaves the protagonists unimpressed after the reveal.

Holy time capsule. It was described to be as a proto-Scooby-Doo and I see some of the similarities. However, I'll take a formulaic SD episode over this, since nothing much happens besides scenes of teenagers hanging out amidst bewildered parents. The final haunted house is interesting but not worth the build-up. We only get one car scene. Fav scene: dad peeping at the daughter's date in the driveway.

My tv guide called this "juvenile hokum" and that's totally apt. Its got everything you could want from a 50s teen flicks:misunderstood kids who aren't rebels, just kids...with parents who have to be reminded they were kids once too! Regular breaks to play rocknroll! Cars!i liked the opening race...but the rivalry is concluded in an OFF SCREEN race at the end. The ghost bits don't come till the last 20 minutes and they're absurdly cheap and cheesy.
