Ghost in the Machine

There's a virtual reality laser tag game being played by not one but two of the cast members of The Sandlot that makes The Lawnmower Man look like Star Fox on SNES. I didn't know what order to put those in. This is pretty terrible but in a 90's way that I've become okay with over the years. The killer dies after crashing into a cemetery (Yes, good. Good) and being taken to a hospital (No, losing it) before his evil soul inhabits an MRI machine because of lightening (Oh, ok. I'm back in).

I like Karen Allen & she does what she can here, but this is a pretty lousy (& unintentionally hilarious) early-90's tech horror that misses almost every shot it takes. There are some cool death scenes, which it gets extra points for, & the premise is pretty fun, but the script is a mess filled with bland characters, clumsy pacing, & lots of really awkward cuts. I've seen far, far worse, but this unfortunately commits the cardinal sin of being entirely forgettable. Could've been a lot more.

One of my favourite so-bad-it's-good B movies. 50% for how uniquely 1990s the badness is + another 15% for the bodacious babysitter.

The summer we had one of those illegal cable boxes hooked up it was either this or Hook playing nonstop whenever I figured out how to get the thing to work. I turned this on expecting a wash of nostalgia but got hit with nausea BOOOM CRITICKER'D

Dear lord, this movie was utterly terrible, I think it actually gave me a headache. It's basically one of those weird techno-thriller kind of movies that came out on the coat tales of 'The Lawnmower Man" and even that movie wasn't very good.

Good acting and FX, but the filmmakers were clearly unaware that all this had already been done in _Shocker_ and _The Stepfather_.

"A reboot is definitely in order here."

Extremely silly horror with some mildly tense moments.
