It is very weak. Typical movie of Macaulay Culkin, when he was a child.

Oh no. It was the beginning of the end for Macauley Culkin as he was hitting puberty during this film. The movie's not special and Ted Danson has a really bad ponytail in it.

Horrible film, that even as a kid i hated. No charm and no fun.

Gentle humour combined with ex Cheers star Danson and THE child star of the 90's can't save this film. All the lines are right, the locations are winning and the cast is one which should spark but it's lacking a soul and is charmless as a result. Harmless but could have been so much better.

I'm going to put Culkin in the same class as Rob Schneider and wonder how the hell this kid still gets work?

Lame 80's style buddy flick that tries to ride the "Home Alone" dead horse with Culkin as annoying as ever and Danson as his estranged ex-con father. Also they apparently didn't get the memo that mullets were out by the mid 90's...

Overly formulaic and tonally inconsistent, Getting Even with Dad tries for a sentimental conclusion it doesn't earn and winds up a slapsticky cash grab aimed at fans of Home Alone.

Getting Even with Dad's robbery scene in the 1st act is reminiscent to the opening of Beverley Hills Cop II down to the the 80's-esque guitar tremolo & ticking beats. The film is equally as derivative throughout, while also being tonally inconsistent. Culkin & Danson utterly lack chemistry, highlighted by Headly's awkward performance that bewilderingly ties the film together during the middle portion when it turns into a semi-watchable RomCom. It's a bad film that is tolerable background noise.
