Get Yourself a College Girl

James Milhollin is the best actor

Trying to 'sex up' the college girl-- god knows I tried the same thing myself many times-- the movie is so ludicrously reductive that it must have been dated a week after it opened. Clean cut singers (including many popular artists performing their hits!) and go-go dancers are a great threat to society; the main theme is set to the tune of "Do You Know the Muffin Man" for god's sake. And the moral is, of course, "women are crazy until you screw the crazy out of them." Weird, ugly damn movie.

Sure, it's bad, but I might watch it again. With all those beautiful girls (including two Elvis co-stars, Mary Ann Mobley and Joan Endicott), and the Dave Clark Five, the Animals, the Jimmy Smith Trio, Getz and Gilberto doing "Girl from Ipanema," plus the three fine character actors William Waterman ("The Great Gildersleeve"), Dorothy Neumann (perennial librarian) and Percy Helton (creepy little guy with creey voice) there's much to recommend it. Chad Everett's awful, but what do you expect?
