Get Out Your Handkerchiefs

Even more misogynistic than usual for Bertrand Blier, if that's at all possible. If that's something you're willing to let slide, the movie is otherwise pretty decent - it's not a laugh-out-loud comedy for me, but it did keep me interested in what might happen next.

Top badass moment? The sweaters; they're this movie's real stars, whilst Gérard Depardieu is the same nice-but-dumb but not-as-dumb-as-he-seems character he always is. In the same way that cycling in the pouring rain is awful, watching this farce is a perverse challenge that strangely makes you feel good for completing it. But I guess it's my own fault, as I know from experience that I shouldn't watch French comedy, as I'm too intelligent to understand it. No cats, chainsaws or decapitations.

Rather fun, but I'm afraid I'll never understand the French psyche, especially when it comes to what they find funny.

Another strange romp with Depardieu and Dewaere directed by Blier. It lacks the bite of "Going Places," but is still full of pleasures and surprises.
