Genius Within: The Inner Life of Glenn Gould

The film focuses on people who surrounded Gould in his life. It also offers stimuli for critically thinking about the ways Gould presented himself, the performance-like quality of his public image. Like any biography it isn't satisfactory, but one would certainly hope it's catalysive. What was inner, will always stay inner, though - maybe that's what the title is about.

Good but basic documentary that balances attention between his celebration of his talent and his eccentricity.

at about 2 hours, this is a satisfying documentary, has a certain richness for both Gould's personal quirks and his musical innovations.

The fascinating content far outweighs the abilities of the filmmakers. For such an eccentric personality, Gould gets a rather standard film treatment.
