More drama, less action, and no real gore which unfortunately is the backbone of the entire story and this makes this movie lack any real bite. The CGI is iffy but the acting is decent for what the actors are given to do.

There are some very well-crafted action sequences, especially an unforgettable battle on a subway train, but there are so many mysteries, so many characters - mostly 1-dimensional - this time around, and so many questions that remain unanswered for so long with answers that are somehow both obvious and yet confusing, that you're more likely to feel exasperated and impatient rather than exhilarated. How characters live or die is also unclear. Its unpredictable but u may wind up not caring.

It was ok, but not amazing. No alien fights unfortunately, which used to be the highlight of the Anime. The ending is interesting though, but I hope not a spoiler for the Manga!

Not as engaging as the first one. There is less action and the whole thing just screams 'limited budget'. The overarching mystery was vague and not terribly interesting. A few neat ideas, but buried underneath a lot of filler.

Don't really like those japanese sci-fi but this one took my attention. Not too bad.

I'm giving both the same ranking but they're sort of different. The first had more action and weirder boss battles and raised questions. This one doesn't have as much action and the couple bosses are more normal, but the story breathes more and tries to answer questions. It doesn't answer it fully which some critics noted but I like that it's sort of vague. Too often we're just gifted answers. Very entertained by these Wuxia/Saw/Sci-Fi/ hybrids. It made me think about what it all means.
