Gangs of Chicago

While westerns were their speciality Republic Pictures could bust out good films in other genres too. Here a gangster drama with Lloyd Nolan as the kingpin playing too close to the cops. Entertaining minor effort driven by Nolan's natural energy and solid backup. Not going to stand out against any of the big mob films of the period, but it'll entertain while you eat your popcorn.
